You can look forward not only to new technology, but also to a holistic visual experience for young and old alike—for tech-savvy visitors and newcomers alike. The focus of our newly designed interactive space is on “edutainment”: conveying exciting information in a playful way to create a lasting experience. This makes our “energie.raum” not only educational but also entertaining, covering topics such as energy, the environment, hydropower, and technology, as well as the history of illwerke vkw, its power plants, and its employees.

Since the founding of Vorarlberger Illwerke, the Vallülasaal has been a central gathering place in the heart of the village of Partenen. The Vallülasaal was formerly a workers’ hall, later a movie theater, and is now a popular venue for events. The Vallülahaus, built directly adjacent to the Vallülasaal, was the ideal location for the Illwerke’s information center. The Vallülasaal and Vallülahaus now form a unified complex with the renovated Bischof-Rudigier-Haus and the square across the street.

Vorarlberger Illwerke has been in existence for 90 years and looks back on a diverse and eventful history that began in the Montafon: In Partenen, Illwerke’s first power plant, the Vermuntwerk, went into operation in 1930. Today, Illwerke operates five pumped-storage power plants in the inner Montafon, along with the associated reservoirs: Silvretta, Kops, and Vermunt. It therefore made perfect sense to establish the Illwerke Information Center in Partenen, where Illwerke’s power plant expansion first began.

Starting from the kraft.raum on the ground floor, which serves as the “energy-packed” opening, the tour leads to the rooms on the upper floor, where various installations bring the exhibition themes to life.
